what is the most reliable atv

Buying AdviceDerek ColeJun 15, 2026, 5:33 PM3 replies

Hey everyone, I’m in the market for a new ATV and reliability is my top priority. I’ve heard good things about Honda’s TRX series, a Polaris 500, and the Yamaha Grizzly 700, but I’m not sure which one holds up best over long seasons and tough terrain. I’ll be riding a mix of forest trails and some farm work, so I need something that won’t break down after a few hundred miles. Any personal experiences or data on which model has the least headaches?

I’ve owned a Honda TRX250 for five years and it’s still running like new. The engine is simple, the carb is easy to tune, and parts are everywhere. I’ve had a few minor leaks but they’re quick fixes. The downside is the power isn’t as punchy as a Polaris, so steep hills can feel a bit sluggish. If you value low‑maintenance and long‑term durability, Honda is hard to beat.

My 2022 Polaris 500 has been a beast on the farm, but it’s not without quirks. The power delivery is great for pulling loads, but I’ve had two clutch issues that required dealer service. The warranty covered it, but it was an inconvenience. If you’re okay with occasional trips to the shop and want raw torque, Polaris is solid, just budget for maintenance.

I went with a Yamaha Grizzly 700 after test‑riding a few models. It’s reliable, especially the cooling system, which handles hot days well. However, the seat can get uncomfortable on longer rides, and the aftermarket support isn’t as extensive as Honda’s. If you prioritize a strong engine and don’t mind a stiffer ride, the Grizzly is a good compromise.
