ATV Torque Calculator

If you know horsepower at a certain RPM but not torque, this calculator estimates pound-feet and Newton-metres.

Results

Values update after you calculate. Empty or invalid inputs will not invent a number.

Enter the values and choose Calculate to see estimates.

How it works

Enter horsepower and RPM. Torque in lb-ft is horsepower times 5252 divided by RPM.

Torque (lb-ft) = horsepower × 5252 ÷ RPM. Torque (N·m) = lb-ft × 1.35582.

These results are estimates for planning only. They are not OEM specifications, safety certifications, or professional mechanical, legal, or financial advice.

Torque Calculator FAQs

Peak torque and peak horsepower happen at different RPM?

Yes. Enter the RPM that matches the horsepower number you have. Mixing a peak-HP figure with a peak-torque RPM will not be accurate.

Does gearing change engine torque?

Gearing multiplies torque at the wheels. This calculator estimates engine torque from power, not axle torque after the transmission.

Can I compare two ATVs with this?

You can compare calculated torque at the same RPM, but real dyno charts still tell a more complete story.
